Moving Mom to Assisted Living
October 17th, 2007The day finally came when Mom needed more help than we could provide on our own. It was a hard decision, but when we finally went to check out our options, we felt so much better.
These new assisted living centers aren¹t the old, smelly, nursing homes where I remember my Grandma spending her last days. These bright, friendly apartments are designed with everything Mom needs‹including wheelchair access to all parts of the apartment. But it feels so much more like a home.
She has a nurse who comes to check on her each night and morning. There are activities designed for her and others in their wheelchairs. I wish we could do it all for her. But at least, we feel better about where she is now.
