So tell me if any of you have had similar experiences. I go into my physical therapy appointment and meet my therapist. He’s a handsome, middle-aged man with a friendly smile. He bends down, places his hand on my wheelchair, and explains what we’ll be doing to help my shoulder recover from surgery. Everything sounds so great and he has such a kind way of explaining things that I feel reassured and I’m actually excited.

Then the handsome, friendly man straps me into a machine that makes medieval torture devices look like a child’s playground. The next thing I know, my shoulder is being stretched and pulled in positions I’m sure aren’t natural. As I’m sweating profusely, I look up and the handsome physical therapist is smiling at me—like he’s enjoying this. So has anyone else had this experience? (In all seriousness, he’s a nice guy but he’s killing me!)

So I’ve had this ongoing battle with my eye doctor over a bill. It has been month after month. They say one thing and my insurance company says another. I keep thinking that I’ve got it resolved. Then the next month another bill comes and it still isn’t resolved.

So today when yet another incorrect bill arrived, I was about to lose my cool. I picked up the phone ready to really let someone have it. I really didn’t care how friendly the voice was on the other end of the line. But when Samantha (the customer service agent) let me have my say, she immediately went to work on her computer. She pulled up the bill and all of my former attempts to get this fixed. In less than five minutes, she not only had it resolved, she had called my doctor’s office with me still on the line and made sure they knew what was going on too. So for all my complaining, I thought it was fair that I gave praise where it was due as well.

I was looking at a photo of my Dad the other day. He was in the Air Force during WWII. He was standing by an old B-26 bomber. The plane had one of those great paintings on the front that the men would put on to kind of personalize the plane. They liked to name their planes, especially after beautiful women or girlfriends. And the paintings were a great way to make their “girl” unique.

Then I thought of my power scooter. It helps me “fly” around town and get my “mission accomplished.” Why shouldn’t I get someone to paint a sweet pin-up girl on my scooter. Wouldn’t that be sweet! Maybe I should start the business myself. Maybe I will.
