Your Mobility Alliance and Qualifying for Cheap Electric Scooter
If you or a loved one need a scooter or power wheelchair to move around inside the home, Medicare or Private insurance may help pay for one. You can usually get a cheap electric scooter or a scooter through medicare at no cost based on your mobility allowance.
Private Insurance
Most, but not all, private insurance companies follow Medicare guidelines for most scooter and power wheelchair qualification requirements. There are too many private insurance companies to go into detail about the required qualifications for each one. If you have private insurance and you or a loved one have need for power mobility equipment, our Alliance members can talk to you about the specific requirements for your private insurance policy.
Medicare
Medicare may pay for a portion of the cost of a scooter or power wheelchair. A written, signed, and dated order from a physician must be provided to the supplier before the claim is submitted to Medicare. Our Mobility Alliance Group members handle this for you.
